Coorg is a district of Karnataka, located near Kerala border. It's now known as Kodagu (Coorg is British name). The main town is Madikeri (British name Mercara).
1. Dubare Elephant Camp - If you are in Coorg in summer times, it's your best place to enjoy and that too with elephants! In monsoon you can do river rafting here. It would take time, so reach early and don't miss bathing and feeding of the elephants.
2. Cauvery Nisargadhama - nothing special, you can see the Cauvery river and cross it over a bridge. There is a man made forest and a deer park. The entry is commercialized with many shops and there is a adventure park too (it's opened in monsoon). There is government backed store which sells handcraft, saari, chocolate, honey etc at reasonable price. The river may look dull in March, but gets much flow in monsoon.
3. Golden Temple/Bylakuppe Monastery/Namdrolling Monastery - A small piece of Tibet in the Karnataka. Second best place you'ld watch on second day of the tour.
The chanting by the monks we experienced was something very interesting.
4. Madikeri Fort - Also known as Mercara Fort, it was built in 17th century by Mudduraja. Later Tipu Sultan rebuilt it with granite installation and many other rulers including Britishs restructured it from time to time.
5. Omkareswara Temple - It's a Shiva temple at the heart of the city. Architecture wise it's nice view.
We took Airavaat club class bus from Bangalore. These buses start from Old Mysore Road Sattelite Bus Stand (at outskirt of Bengaluru) at 11:30 pm and reach at Madigari Mercara bus stand by 5:30 am.
There are many hotels around the bus stand, but there are also many homestays and resorts which are bit away from main town. The homestays are preferred over hotels as homestays often give you excellent viewpoint locations.
We were recommended Eishwara Inn but did not get a booking on Goibibo/MMT as it was weekend. Hence we did not book any hotel.
However on reaching Madigari at 5:30 am, we were approached by some local people for hotels. But we met Mr. Ganesh who guided us to AB's Mountain View Homestay which was excellently located. From here you can see a panoramic view of the town including Raja's tomb.
Other places to stay-in in Coorg: Tamara (luxury), Ayatana (luxury/private waterfalls)

The are is now quite well maintained with the garden but one may find it's lackluster show.

3. Tala Cauvery/ Tala Kaveri - The origin of Kaveri river as old books say. Now apart from monsoon there is almost no connection between Tata Kaveri and the river. There is a holy pond where people can the puja.
4. Talakaveri adjacent Brahmagiri hills - Just behind the tala kaveri, there is Brahmagiri hills. Steps are made so you can easily climb to the top. At dry season you will go up in bare foot, while in monsoon the steps can be slippery. From the top you can see the panoramic view of the surroundings.
5. Bhagamandala Temple /Bhagandeshwara Kshetra - It's a temple just at beside Triveni Sangama. Lord Shiva, Submanya and Ganesha are worshipped here. As per ritual people take bath at Triveni Sangama and worship at temple before proceeding to Tala Kaveri, the birth place of South Ganga.
6. Bhagamandala Kudala/ triveni sangama - where river Cauvery is joined by two of its tributaries Kannike and Sujyothi.
5. Raja's Seat - an extended town hall with a nice viewpoint at the city Madikeri. This could be the last stop of your day 1 as the afternoon/evening make the area full of crowd and cheerful.
