Airtel Unlimited 5G Prepaid Plans (June 2026)

New Delhi-HQed Bharti Airtel is the second largest mobile operator in India after Reliance Jio. Though it was originated from India, it had achieved its global status with over 650 million customers in 15 countries across Asia and Africa. Airtel holds a 37.89% market share of the wireless subscriber base in India, while top telco Jio holds 39.27% market share and remaining Vi (15.56%) and BSNL (7.28%) stand distant. 

Despite Jio's wild entry with 4G in 2015-16 with market disruptive strategies like free data and calls and later cheapest data plans, Airtel had not lost from the game and kept improving and has now positioned itself with a premiumization strategy, prioritizing higher profit margins and user monetization over massive subscriber volume. Infact, Airtel has the highest proportion of active (VLR) wireless subscribers in the country, consistently operating at a near-perfect active user rate of roughly 99.3%, higher ARPU (₹257 in Q3 FY26 vs Jio's ₹214) and larger premium postpaid subscriber pool. 

On 5G, Airtel did launched 5G-NSA (since October 2022) which definitely did put them at par with competition with Jio, but that gives Jio advantage on the 5G-FWA. Jio holds ~70% in 5G-FWA market. Later Airtel started transition to 5G-SA from February 2026. 

This is my analysis of Airtel's Selected Prepaid Plans which are offering unlimited 5G data. Airtel also has some plans without unlimited 5G data, that marks another way to monetize 5G. While Jio offers unlimited 5G to all prepaid plans, subject to eligibility of the the subscribers. The eligibility criteria is basically nothing but recharging a 5G pack worth ₹51. 

As of June 2026, all of Airtel's Unlimited 5G Prepaid plans come with:

• Unlimited calls in India (incoming, outgoing, roaming)
• 100 SMS/day
• Adobe Express Premium x 12 months (previous offer was Perplexity Pro) 
• Free HelloTunes - get one song for 30 days 

Presently Airtel is offering:

• 6 Prepaid plans for 28 day-validity, and one single plan for 30 day-validity
• 2 plans worth 56 day-validity
• 6 plans for 84 day-validity and, 
• 3 annual plans (with 365 day-validity)
• Airtel also offering unlimited data (on 4G/5G) on some plans.
• There are only 2 vanilla plans – all other plans has some OTT offerings including Airtel Xtream Play. 

If you have a TV with broadband/AirFiber – mostly you would got OTT offers with multiple device acess, hence I would rather go for minimal OTT offering or simply Vanilla Prepaid plans. 

And if you are on Vi, the plans are more or less same but extra benefits like data roll over, night/weekend unlimited data are there - and as they have smaller subscriber base, you should get better speed on Vi than Airtel.
