If you don’t know about Gobol.in, let me introduce it. Gobol.in is just another Indian e-commerce site, but unique in its offerings. It sells factory seconds or refurbished electronics at heavy discount and with warranty from manufacturer or from the seller side.
I earlier reviewed Samsung Galaxy S 3 – a refurbished unit from Gobol.in. This time they sent me a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH1 – a compact digicam.
Build and make
Though for the camera, I look for the functionalities, but here FH1 is a compact camera – point-n-shoot camera which is remarkable with the compact and stylish look. I got a Silver FH1 which has very unique look. You will never find it bulky.
Controls
All buttons are neatly placed on the opposite side of the lens along with the LCD screen which acts as viewfinder too. For the new users it will be a fun to jump into the digital photography.
Performance
No camera is good, unless it is performance packed. First thing I notice that it is quite fast than many digital cameras. The optical zoom at 5X works fine, but using digital zoom is horrific, as happens with most other digicams. There are lots of modes to take the pictures differently [Auto / Daylight / Cloudy / Shade / Halogen / White Set (Selectable at Portrait, Soft Skin, Transform, Self-Portrait, Sports, Baby, Pet, High Sensitivity, Highspeed Burst, Photo Frame)]
Though ISO can be set upto 1600, during my usage more than 100 did not provide good results on auto mode. The video recording is quite appreciable when it is taken on HD.
The rechargeable Li-Ion battery works perfect during my usage. Actually I find it acts perfect though it’s a Factory Seconds product.
Bottomline
In India digital camera market is dominated by Nikon, Canon and Sony. Panasonic is not the first choice for people here. But Lumix DMC-FH1 is worth try, while Gobol.in is selling it for a very low price. I checked with international photography forums, there it's considered as a thumbs up product. I would rate it 3.5/5 but rate it 4/5 due to its low price from Gobol.
