Experience with Honor 200 Pro

Huawei backed Honor has launched two new smartphones during mid-July 2024 - Honor 200 and Honor 200 Pro (and later Honor 200 Lite). On Amazon.in Honor 200 (8GB/256GB) costs Rs 34,998 (MRP Rs 39,999), 12GB/512GB variant costs Rs 39,998 (MRP Rs 44,999) and Honor 200 Pro costs Rs 57,998 (MRP 59,999) - that makes Honor 200 as mid-premier smartphone while Honor 200 Pro (12GB/512GB) is placed as premier smartphone.

Honor, the brand is owned by HonorTech Universal in India. 

Though Xiaomi 14 Civi, OnePlus 12, iQOO 12 also are placed in the same category of Honor 200 Pro and they are priced lower than Honor 200 Pro - Amazon was offering Rs 10,000 direct discount (now it's Rs 5000) and Rs 3000 discount from Bank offer, the Honor 200 Pro could be bought at Rs 44,998. As an initial offerings, a 100W charger came free of cost.

Display - 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with 2700 x 1224 pixels resolution, 4000 nits of peak brightness, ultra dynamic color display technology, DCI-P3cinematic wide colour gamut along with DXO Mark Gold certificate. 

SoC - Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 (also powers Xiaomi 14 Civi - 8GB + 256GB at Rs 42,999 Rs 54,999 | 12GB + 512GB at Rs 47,999 Rs 59,999) 

8sG3 is trimmed down version of 8G3, but 8sG3 has higher GPU frequency (~43%). However 8G3 is more powerful - scores more on AnTuTu (~38%). Honor 200 Pro does not support L5 band GPS and NavIC. 

Plug&Play may not work with Honor 200 Pro with Windows 11:

Windows may block the hn_usbccgpfilter.sys driver due to the Memory Integrity feature, which is a security feature in Windows 10 and 11. This feature checks for compatibility with security settings and can prevent drivers from loading if they are deemed incompatible.

Honor's AIEraser is awesome, at point I feel it works better than Pixel's. It not only deletes objects, also replaces with AI generated objects. 

Battery - I am using early 5G smartphone Mi 11X Pro - which sometimes needs charging up thrice in a day, if you're doing heavy work like playing games, watching video etc. But Honor 200 Pro with 5200mAh battery handles the battery usage way better. 

Business in limbo: HonorTech CEO Madhav Sheth told ET that the company’s operations have been stalled due to its inability to secure Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certifications for new smartphone models since July 2024.
