Augere's Zoosh: LTE Broadband + Scam + Advances

Augere Holdings is one of the companies who won BWA license and spectrum in India in 2010. It bagged BWA spectrum in Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh (1 circle only).

Voice and Data reported that Augere is targetting 4G launch in July, 2012. Roll out of Zoosh broadband will be started with Indore followed by Bhopal and then Raipur.

Founded in 2007 Augere is a wireless broadband business company with a vision of 'Broadband for All' and focused to bring affordable broadband to Asia and Africa. In Asia Augere is already present in India's neighbor countries - Pakistan and Bangladesh. Augere is present there under 'Qubee' [Qubee Pakistan, Qubee Bangladesh] since 2009 and offers wireless broadband using WiMAX technology.

Augere is headed by Sanjiv Ahuja, former CEO of Orange. Principal shareholders of Augere include Harbinger Capital, France
Telecom, New Silk Route and Vedanta Opportunity Fund. Last month Augere received FIPB approval to increase foreign equity from 49% to 74%, to offer broadband wireless, internet and other related services by allowing a fresh FDI inflow of R54 crore in the company.

I googled and found that Qubee stands for 'Fast and Reliable'.
I just visited Qubee.com and excited to know that Augere is located at 55 Baker Street!
Augere Mauritius Limited was the company who participated in the BWA auction, later the company had a name make over to make itself as Augere Wireless Broadband Service Provider (though I am not quite sure about this new name). Interestingly someone smelt some scam on Augere's Indian venture - Read THIS. [briefing up - Mauritius Ltd always smells bad, Augere's Rajat Gupta is close to Manmohan Singh, Augere was cleared fast by FIPB while Etisalat got FIPB approval late on the ground of they are offering services on Pakistan. ] Update: Read Tehelka's story.

However if you can close your eyes and think about affordable broadband in India, let's go to the advanced made by Augere Wireless to roll out its broadband services in Madhya Pradesh and Chhatisgarh.

1. Ericsson bagged first LTE/4G contact on Indian soil via Augere - Read more on telecomtalk.
This was first vendor selection announcement for 4G operators.

Ericsson will be in charge of plan, design, build, operate, maintain and provide equipment management for the 4G network of Augere. ETA is April, 2012 but no confirmation of it. It is sure that Augere though previously rolled out WiMAX in Pakistan and Bangladesh, choose LTE-TDD in India like its Indian BWA colleagues. We also knew that Lars Stork is the CEO of Augere Wireless and the brand name will be Zoosh Broadband. [FYI I checked zoosh.in is owned by Anju Ahuja, organization - Augere, Location- London and it redirect to augereholdings.com ]

2. To create a strong brand presence, Augere appointed Everest Brand Solutions as creative partner. [more]

3. While reporting about Airtel's 4G roll out Economics Times says that Augere already in the business and offering dongles for a month. This is absolutely lie or the reporter dude is an fool to misunderstand Augere's announcement of Ericsson as equipment partner as launch news. Even ET did not publish Augere's roll out details nor other telecom portals covered it before.

4. SNEA (Sanchar Nigam Executive Association)'s MP circle submitted a letter to CGM as 4G partnership is already (like Airtel-Vodafone-Idea ICRA 3G agreement) in Madhy Pradesh, as Tikona joins hands with Augere or Reliance Infotel to offer 4G roaming. (Original Document). - I guess they mistook Tikona's current MIMO based services which is offered over free spectrum of 5.8GHz band.
