Taxi Services From/To Barrackpore

Barrackpore is a old suburb on the north of Kolkata with a cantonment area. Here public transport is quite good -extending from train, bus, auto and ferry. However whenever you think about hiring a cab, you need to take a pause. Here there is no cab stand basically but cabs wait at Chiriamore mostly. Few cabs wait at Rail station but ask anything. Yellow cabs here is always a costly option, most of them refuse or ask for a price which could make you speechless enough to argue with the driver.

Airtel's LTE900 Running in Bengaluru: Excellent Indoor Speed

Last month I was in Bangalore, and I found that for indoor coverage Airtel has deployed 900MHz band. LTE900 is running commercial by Airtel in Bangalore. Read more about Airtel's LTE900.

Like in Kolkata, Airtel is using 5MHz of 900MHz band (band 8) for FDD LTE along with LTE-TD 2300MHz and LTE-FDD 1800MHz.

I did not made a speedtest with Airtel LTE900 as I was bit low on data and in hurry. However as per my experience it is quite good. More than 3Mbps was the download speed although my usage.

mWallets Are No More Useful to Me

FreeCharge was probably best against PayTM and Mobikwik during their initial days, but it started falling. FC was later sold to Snapdeal, and then to Axis Bank. Whatever it takes, I started using credit card and there is no use of FC. By end of May 2019 I uninstalled FC.

As of now paytm's main usage sticks to Uber bill payment, I am soon to try credit card payment on uber. Even now Ola is offering payment by VISA cards, so there is chance that I will shift from Ola postpaid to VISA card payment.

As it goes well, PayTm usage will go low for me. Unless I get a good deal to pay via PayTM.

Update on June 23 : Credit usage on Uber is great so far!! So no turning back to PayTM. Thankfully I am not a PayTM Bank customer nor I applied for PayTM credit card.

Mobikwik's supercash is a shit for customers like me. I seldom use it, but gets cashback via Max Get More for using SBI/OBC debit card. And this cashback can used for other purpose!

Mukesh Ambani to Get Investors in Jio and its Fiber and Tower Subsidiaries

Reliance Jio became second largest telecom operator in India by the end of April, 2019 beating Airtel, that's nearly 2.5 years after Jio have launched services. While Vodafone Idea achieved 300 million customers after the merger, Airtel crossed that mark in its 19th years of operations.

Currently Jio has 30.6 crores of subscribers, while first boy Vodafone Idea stands at 40.9 cr and Airtel stands at 28.4 cr. It should be noted that Airtel was market leader for nearly 15 years until Vodafone and Idea merged their business in August 2018 to become new top.

Back in August 2018, Jio surpassed Vodafone India to stand second as per Revenue Market Share (RMS), while Airtel remained first. Analysts expect Airtel's top spot may be snatched by Jio as early as within next 2 quarters. Jio may also topple Vodafone Idea's top position as largest customer base in less than a year. Reliance Jio is making a profit in its operations and boasts of highest adjusted gross revenue (AGR) in access services amongst all telecom companies

There are few more advances inside Jio.

Why was BSNL not given 4G spectrum by Indian Government?

This was a question asked on Quora

First of all the question is not correctly said, BSNL was given spectrum but then the game begins to show the whole case as BSNL’s destiny was made to fail. Every government be it congress or bjp all are responsible for the current situation of BSNL.
Govt of India conducted first spectrum auction for 4G services in 2010, where private companies acquired spectrum on 2300MHz including Infotel Broadband (who later turned to be Jio). But BSNL was offered BWA (broadband wireless access) spectrum atleast in 2007–08 (though trials started back in 2004), but that was on 2600MHz band. BSNL launched WiMAX services using this frequency band in 2009 from Ajmer, later BSNL WiMAX became quite popular in Kerala circle.
However as Airtel launched first 4G LTE network in Kolkata in 2012, BSNL started making issues that they are scraping WiMAX network for LTE and for that this 2600MHz band of bandwidth would not be much helpful. Since 2011 BSNL wanted to return this spectrum and get refund for this. However by 2014 BSNL got that refund. Interestingly BSNL returned spectrum in 6 circles (Cat A circles 5, metro circle 1) and MTNL in 2 circles (metro circle 2). As BSNL and MTNL left these lucrative circles, the time would made the Jio to rule Indian telecom as monopoly hits.
Since 2016 BSNL is shutting down WiMAX in remaining circles for the favor to LTE. Now the delay to give newer spectrum for LTE starts, and BSNL got spectrum for LTE (on 2100MHz and 2500MHz) only in January 2019.

On my personal note, BSNL was the de-facto broadband provider til 2010, only private player Sify and Meghbela was available at my location. And BSNL with 2Mbps ADSL connection was superfast, ahead of the competition. But post 2010, many smaller players as well as bigger players with fiber rolled out services, and BSNL just watched this thing happening. Apart from government policy, BSNL officials also took a major role in the deterioration of BSNL. BSNL is also good in southern circles, even in the north eastern states, but somehow BSNL has a poor show always, in Kolkata.
Let’s compare BSNL v Jio on LTE turf. Jio came in market in 2016 and BSNL is upcoming in Q3 of 2019. This delay is made by different people - but all seem to be wellwisher for Jio only. BSNL’s network upgradation plans were halted so many times, that BSNL could not leverage benefit from data friendly CDMA technology.
It’d be a shame for Indians if BSNL is privatized or shut down. What I expect that BSNL may be partially halted its services in few circles like in Kolkata, where it is worst, full of bogus people.

Gillete Alternatives : Grooming Stuffs for Indian Men

Gillette is most widely used razor in India, probably. But what I feel that too many sub brands/types of Gillette razors makes enough confusion among users, atleast I have confusion while buying new set of blades.

As I checked out Gillette has these types of razors for men : Fusion Power, Fusion Mammal, Mach 3, Mach 3 Turbo, Mach 3 Sensitive, Vector 3, Vector Plus, Fusion Proglide, Presto disposable. And there may be more, which I never heard of.

These is the list of Indian brands available online for your razor quest.

Wells brands like Hary's are also available on Amazon.in, but they are too costly.

Vodafone Idea Testing LTE 3 CA in Kolkata

Vodafone Idea, the merged entity is never been a talk of the town for its LTE footprints. Vodafone is considered as best metro coverage on 2G and 3G and Idea is good in rural areas, but when it comes to 4G - these operators never became a frontrunner. They wait, watch and implement.

However as Jio is ruling in the country with extensive 4G coverage of 98.8% and Vodafone and Idea stands at a distant 84.6% and 82.8%, the merged entity is now gearing up to shorten the coverage gap.

It's been heard from Vodafone Idea that they are strengthening their LTE network by adding more sites, small cells, massive MIMO and carrier aggregation.

It's really interesting to see Vodafone Idea is following Airtel's steps to refarm 900MHz or may be 2100MHz to add a new carrier to its existing LTE deployment of 2CA. It's now 3CA. And I don't know what is the third carrier on Vodafone Idea's LTE network.
